MEINHARDT
2023
Each year, for Drive Social Media's annual Workshop Week, my creative team and I are asked to create video concepts solely to showcase our creative talent within the agency. The video concepts are based on each year's theme, with 2023 being "Level Up", a nod to video games, but with a deeper meaning of our company and teams leveling up in 2023.
"Meinhardt" is a mash-up of Indiana Jones meets Temple Run. Our production mixed practical locations with virtual production using Unreal Engine 5. The team of five, including myself, chosen to bring this project to life was heavily inspired by ILM's Volume and virtual production process. So, we sought out a way to replicate a similar process, but on a much smaller timeframe and budget that was doable for us.
The timelines for the production were about 15 hours for pre-production, a five-hour location shoot, a five-hour blue screen shoot, and about 35 hours of compositing and editing. Specifically, within these time frames, I acted as the producer as well as did all of the compositing and special effects seen in the video.
RED HARVEST
2022
For Drive Social Media's 2022 Workshop Week, the theme was "First Agency to Mars," which was inspired by the billionaire space race between Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Richard Branson. This was our team's first attempt at virtual production. Our main goal for the project was to simply learn, create a process for future projects, and have the experience under our belts to learn from our mistakes. Using a conference room of blue screens and a Space X suit from Etsy, we created a three-part video full of inside jokes, mystery, and Star Wars nods. Just like Meinhardt, I acted as the producer and did all of the compositing and special effects seen in all three parts.
